Preparing the home for a smooth cleanout
A whole-house cleanout goes fastest when keep, donate and haul decisions are made before the crew arrives. Use colored tape or sticky notes so everyone can see what stays.
Remove important documents, jewelry, photos and medications first. Then text room-by-room photos for an estimate so the number of loads and the schedule are clear.
- Mark items to keep with tape or notes
- Remove valuables and paperwork in advance
- Check closets, attics, garages and sheds
- Confirm parking and access for the truck
1. Decide the end state
Is the house being sold, rented, renovated or handed to family? That decides what stays.
2. Sort before the crew arrives
Mark keep, donate and remove. Tape and sticky notes work fine.
3. Start with the hardest spaces
Attic and garage first — they're the most physically demanding and take the most volume.
4. Book the right crew
Send room-by-room photos so we can estimate truckloads and send enough people to finish in one day where possible.
5. Confirm the price
The crew confirms the final volume-based price before loading.
