Timing a move-out near campus
Move-out weeks around the end of a semester are the busiest time for pickups near campus, and parking around student housing fills fast.
Booking a few days ahead, splitting costs with roommates on one shared load, and texting photos in advance are the easiest ways to keep a student move-out simple and affordable.
- Book before the last week of the term when possible
- Combine roommates' items into one load to share the price
- Check your lease for move-out and bulk trash rules
Who this is for
Students, parents and landlords in apartments and rental houses near campus, Downtown and College Park. This guide is independent and has no affiliation with the University of Texas at Arlington.
Two weeks out
- Decide what's going home, what's being sold or donated, and what's being hauled
- Coordinate with roommates — one shared load is usually cheaper
- Check your lease for move-out rules and fees
Move-out week
- Text photos for a price and book a time
- Reserve the elevator if your building requires it
- Leave access instructions if you've already left town
For landlords
If you manage several student rentals, schedule a turnover day and send unit photos in one batch. Completion photos can be sent for each unit.
